How To Apply Nano Tip Hair Extensions

1.Nano tip hair extensions are similar to micro ring ones, but they use a much smaller silicone-lined nano ring.

2.Application process works like this: thread a small section of your natural hair and the nano tip extension into the tiny bead. Once positioned correctly, clamp the bead shut to lock the extension and natural hair together.

3.Don’t rely on adhesives or heat, this method uses pressure to keep extensions in place. That means no chemicals are needed when removing them.

4. To prevent tangling and keep your natural hair healthy, we suggest getting salon maintenance every 5-8 weeks when using nano extensions.

5. With proper care, these extensions can be reused mutiple times, maximizing their lifespan.

The Difference Between Nano Tip Hair Extensions and Nano Ring

Nano ring hair extensions—often just called ”nano rings”—are a relatively new addition to hair extension application techniques, but they’ve gained popularity rapidly. This method was developed to create the most undetectable look.

Like micro rings, Nano rings are made of copper. The key difference? Nano rings are 90% smaller than regular application rings—usually around the size of a ballpoint pen nib.

The hair strands used with nano rings are what we call Nano Tip Hair Extensions. Each strand has a strong keratin tip that secures a thin metal loop; this loop is squeezed shut to form a steady tip, which is inserted into the ring before being clamped with pliers. Plastic tips are also an option—Lum Hair can offer both. But metal tips are more popular,because they make reapplication  easier during maintenance than re-threading plastic tips into new nano rings.

To make the installation less visible, the hair is placed behind the client’s natural hair strands before clamping. No heat or glue is involved in the process. Necessary tools include: nano tip hair extensions, nano rings, a small nano ring pulling loop tool, and a compact set of application pliers. Our point-tipped hair extension pliers help with precise clamping of these tiny nano rings.

When it comes to nano ring extensions, avoid applying heat or oil to the keratin bond holding the nano tip—it can weaken or even melt the bond. Just like all hair extension methods, both installation and removal should be done by a trained professional.

After roughly 6 to 8 weeks, the rings should be removed and the extensions repositioned higher up. This prevents detection and reduces stress on the client’s natural hair strands. Nano rings come in two types: unlined copper (which clamps flatter) and silicone-lined copper (to prevent slipping and protect the client’s hair).
